glass-cloche by The Art of Doing Stuff, via Flickr - industrial light bulbs, double sided tape to stick them to glass dollar store candle sticks, in a cloche. Works really well here, due to having a doll-sized chair that matches her desk chair, as well as the candle stick bases mimicking the table the cloche is on)

floor to ceiling board & batten molding + mantle + marble surround + texture- the strange Native American.

Theres so much history behind those big homes!! Fine detailed wood work from the english, french and spanish settlers!! Id just go down south and try to salvage and renovate a home to match its bones!!

rounded edge mirror on mantel...I saw one at a local Salvation Army and now I hope it will be there when I go back, of course it will need to be detached from it's posts to attach to a dresser, but that's alright...I have a screwdriver:-)

love the look of logs stacked in a non-working fireplace.

Great room the only thing missing is a bookshelf so the fireplace could actually be used.

Cool wall-shelving and pretty fireplace

Filling the interior of your fireplace with a mirror not only bounces light around the room; it also makes a small space feel larger. And if you have a colorful rug covering the floor, a mirror will reflect it back into the room—an artful bonus.

A favorite fireplace moment - those tiles + that rug!
