For thousands of years, people have been drawn to the hot springs and carbonate mineral terraces (travertines) of Pamukkale, in southwestern Turkey. The name means "cotton castle" in Turkish and indeed looks like a scene from a fairy tale.

This is the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I visited in 2006 when I was just 11 years old. After visiting it and snorkeling, that's when I became what my family calls me: a "fish". This trip is what really brought me somewhat "close" to the water. What better place to get attached?
