New York, blizzard of 1888; I have a children's book that tells the story of this blizzard. I 've read it to the preschoolers when I use to be a preschool teacher.
“Nyc officially got 3 feet but drifts were several feet higher in many areas of the city Blizzard of 88”
1888: New York City, New York: Snowbanks on Madison Ave. after the Blizzard of 1888. The blizzard, which would come to be known as the "Great White Hurricane", raged from March 11 through March 14 and left behind snowfall totals from 40-50" across New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. The largest snowfall accumulation was recorded in Saratoga Springs, New York, 58".

A little bit of History goes a long way..
This image brings tears to my eyes every time I see it. My son is 7 and my daughter almost 2, it could be them in a different world. Baby girl, named Tran Thie HetNhanny, lying in a cardboard box next to her brother, who begged on the streets of Saigon. When the photo was published in February of that year, it inspired Americans to raise money to bring the baby to the US to undergo surgery to correct a congenital heart defect
In 1973 photographer Chick Harrity took one of the Vietnam War's most memorable images, showing a baby girl, Tran Thie Het Nhanny, lying in a cardboard box with her brother, who begged on the streets of Saigon. A lifetime achievement award was given to Harrity and to Harrity's surprise the award was given by the woman whose image he captured in that famous photograph. After surgery to correct a heart defect in the US, Nhanny was adopted by an American woman and now lives in Ohio.

Kim Phuc was pictured in a world-famous and iconic photograph from the Vietnam war, running naked from an airborne attack, horribly burned with napalm, in June of 1972. Since then, Kim has found peace, and a message she can offer, borne of her suffering. She runs The Kim Foundation International, and she acts as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNESCO. She has transformed into a viable, visible symbol of peace and hope. Hers is an important story of resilience, courage, and forgiveness.
