DIY Bath Salts :: I save Candle Jars & may do some in those :: In a large bowl, mix to combine: 6 parts coarse sea salt; 3 parts epsom salts, to soothe tired muscles & reduce inflammation; &1 part baking soda, to soften waters & alleviate skin irritation. Add a few drops of essential oils & combine. Add a few drops of food coloring until you achieve the desired shade. If you intend to present the bath salts as gifts, be sure to store them in a stoppered & labeled container to keep out moisture. Homemade Bath Salts. Take 4 cups of sea salt or Epsom Salts. Mix in several drops of Lavender essential oil and, if you wish, dried fragrant plants, such as lavender or eucalyptus. Pour into a jar for yourself or to give as a gift. Use a few spoonfuls of salts per bath; to keep herbs from floating, spoon the mixture into a spice sachet (available at gourmet grocery stores).
There are a few things I always, regardless of circumstance, enjoy. Soaking in pretty-smelling water in our big vintage claw-foot tub, with homemade bath salts, is one of the those simple luxuries.
