Kellar was a predecessor of Harry Houdini and a successor of Robert Heller. He was often referred to as the "Dean of American Magicians" and performed extensively on five continents. One of his most memorable stage illusions was the levitation of a girl advertised as the "Levitation of Princess Karnack".
Kellar Harry (1849-1922) born Heinrich Keller. Dean of American Magicians, His was by far the largest and most elaborate stage illusion show during the late 1800s and early 1900s. He is best known for his stunning version of the Levitation, in which a girl mysteriously rises up from a couch, floats across the stage to the audience, then disappears into thin air. On May 1908, he retired and in a grand onstage ceremony, placed his cape on the shoulders of his chosen successor Howard Thurston.
