How to Build Your Own Fire Pit jalen suggests a lid to quickly put out the fire and to make sure thre are not tree roots underneath that could cause a root fire..and use a firescreen to stop any flickering flames from travelling and catching fire in the surrounding trees, etc...just sayin' :)
