Visitors to Inveraray Castle are often amazed by the brilliance of the extravagant decoration in the State Dining Room. The elaborate painting was completed in 1784 by two French artists Girard & Guinard, whose work only survives at Inveraray.  The painting is of a quality unparalleled in Britain at that time.
