Kennedy lies wounded on the floor of the Ambassador Hotel, after being shot by an assailant following his victory speech in the California primary election on June 5, 1968, and dies one day later from his injuries. Kennedy's wife Ethel is at lower left. Palestinian immigrant Sirhan Sirhan was arrested at the scene and later convicted of the murder.
Juan Romero was 17 years old and working as a busboy at the Ambassador Hotel in L.A. when Senator Robert Kennedy was staying at the hotel during his 1968 presidential run. On June 5th, Kennedy gave his victory speech for winning the California primary. Romero pressed through the crowd to shake the senator’s hand.
