Frozen light house lake michigan.
The 1906 North Pierhead Outer Light at St. Joseph, Michigan, becomes an ice sculpture on January 26, 2013. During winter storms, waves from Lake Michigan wash over the 31' iron tower and walkway and then freeze. Photo courtesy of Lisa Davidson Rundell Photography and National Geographic.
The lighthouse in St. Joseph, Michigan, has become an ice sculpture. Yesterday (January 26, 2013), after a day of cloudy skies, there was a break in the clouds just above the horizon to the west. As the sun slipped below the the bank of clouds the ice-covered lighthouse came alive in hues of pink. This was one of the most stunning natural wonders I've ever seen.
Splash! That's a big one. But what are these people talking about?
