This Eastern hognose snake is an unusual #specimen because it is caught in the act of swallowing a toad! These snakes eat amphibians, insects and other invertebrates. But they mainly eat toads. Toads try to inflate in defense, and hognose snakes use their rear teeth to pop the toads and swallow them anyway.
