Chaetopterus pergamentaceus are marine worm distantly related to our more familiar earthworms. They inhabits a U-shaped tube in the sediment and pumps water over a secreted mucus net, using the specialized segments of the middle body region. The long arms secrete and hold the mucus net, and the three paddle-like appendages maintain continuous water flow through the tube.
