We did our little girls' room in turquoise, red, and pink. This butterfly collage would look gorgeous in there!

    Butterfly art project for kids

  • Whimsical Paintings by Artist Melissa Fassel Dunn

Butterfly collage We've seen this type of butterfly art make its way around the blogosphere and wrote about it here, but we really like this application because your child gets to paint the butterflies these beautiful colors. Abbie, who blogs with her sister Ellie at Bright Eyes + Blue Eyes, made this fluttering butterfly collage with her daughter. Instead of just using scrap or craft paper, her daughter got hands on painting the paper to form the butterflies. Voila...a beautiful butterfly collage she can be so proud of. Head over to Bright Eyes + Blue Eyes for the instructions and, as a special bonus, a short video of her adorable daughter ("Pumpkin") showing off her artwork. Thanks Abbie! If I had a girl I think I'd copy it exactly, but since I don't, I'll try a variation. Love that you used that Martha Stewart punch, I always swoon over those but have never thought of a way to get my money's worth out of any of them but tthe circle. I'm now excited to go check out all the different one's they have! posted by LinnyBee on February 10th 2011 at 8:34am view LinnyBee's profile This is an awesome project. I can't wait to do it with my special needs students. I think the will love it. posted by whitea26 on February 10th 2011 at 8:34am view whitea26's profile @LinnyBee - do you have a Michael's store near you? They carry Martha Stewart paper punches. At my local store, I can sometimes use a 40% off coupon for one item. @laura lee - one of my favorite colors in the world! Glad you like the collage idea. Send me a link/blog comment if you ever try the project! -abbie posted by Abbie {bright eyes + blue eyes} on February 10th 2011 at 11:58am view Abbie {bright eyes + blue eyes}'s profile Please sign in or register to comment.

Cute idea for a girls room. Get a white frame (or spray paint it white) then spray paint the back of the picture frame (the wood). Use a butterfly paper punch to punch out the butterflies from scrapbook paper and glue them on with a hot glue gun. Don't use the glass front the frame so the butterfly wings can stick out.
