In reflecting on my educational experience at Georgetown, two factors stand out as being major contributing factors in my intellectual curiosities: ease of communication and constant consideration of others’ learning. The pins on this board represent the value I’ve placed on technology in my everyday life, deemed by many as the “culture of convenience.” Yet as I consider ways in which new media has made it easier to keep intellectual dialogue going, I have to wonder if our adoption of this impersonal form of communication is becoming a disservice to educational development at a young age. Classes in American Studies have pushed me to ask questions like these and constantly consider the impact of what I’m learning on others that I might in turn teach.
