Marvin Gaye - "Let's Get It On" (1973) ANOTHER GREAT OLDIE THAT WAS SEXY AND FUN TO DANCE TO! :) <3
Let's Get It On, Marvin Gaye - "I mumble things into the microphone," Gaye said. "I don't even know what I'm saying, and I don't even try to figure it out. If I try, it doesn't work. If I relax, those mumbles will finally turn into words. It's a slow, evolving process, something like the way a flower grows." On this album, those words turn into meditations on the gap between sex and love and how to reconcile them — an adult version of the Motown tunes Gaye had built his career on. #marvingaye #letsgetiton #500greatestalbumsofalltime #rollingstone #juliejuliaproject #mymusic #myalbum

As one of the pioneers of Motown, singer-songwriter and producer Marvin Gaye helped shape the sound of R & B music and is considered one of the greatest artists of all time. "Whats Going On" my all time favorite!
Marvin Gaye. When I first listened to 'What's Going On' I was overwhelmed by how the entire album was perfectly crafted, and is still relevant in 2013 with our absurd world. There is something magical about Marvin Gaye. - D.

Marvin Gaye was born April 2, 1939 in Washington, DC, and died April 1, 1984 in Los Angeles, CA. On April 1, 1984, as Gaye was seated on his bed at his parents home in Los Angeles talking to his mother, his father shot him twice, following an argument. The first shot, which entered the right side of his chest, was fatal. Such a tragic end to such an amazing talent. Marvin Gaye: brilliance. (and him and Tammi Terrell together, you got one dynamic duo). They don't make singers like this anymore
Only marvin gaye could sing about the challenges of feeling the motion of anger in such a funky way... This track "Anger" shows a more introspective side to his inner conflicts. He was going through a rough divorce and was in a dark time. I highly suggest you check out the full length album, "Hear my Dear" - an intense, soulful, funky and vulnerable portrait of one of America's greatest artists - Marvin Gaye.

Named the 6th best album in music history by Rolling Stone, the staggeringly influential What s Going On is pure soul genius and an ageless document about urban ills, employment issues, and social responsibilities that s as relevant today as it was upon release in 1971. At once, Marvin Gaye both revolutionized Motowns sound and upped the ante for his fellow musicians. Incredibly, the record almost didn t get made.
