Berlin-based designer and vegetarian, Silvia Wald, is playing a cruel, yet genius joke on carnivores. She opened a ‘butcher shop’ full of tasty-looking meats in all shapes and sizes. The catch is: you can’t eat any of it. All of Wald’s meat products are made from textile materials. Her fluffy cold-cuts are sold as pillows, accessories, cushions, and other decor.

I love it when artists bring to life concepts that resonate with daily life, just like Berlin-based designer and vegetarian, Silvia Wald who opened up a butcher shop called Aufschnitt (German for “cold cuts”) complete with hams, sausages and meat cuts. They’re not real, of course, but those who are looking for real pieces of meat at her shop might find themselves a little confused.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve often wondered how Marimekko creates their vibrant fabrics. Since 1951, they’ve been making highly-recognizable and nostalgia-inducing patterns, which are printed at the Marimekko-house in Helsinki, Finland, the heart and soul of the company.
