hanging strawberry garden; grow strawberries from elevated rain gutters.
bonus idea: Recycled rain gutters = elevated strawberry planters. (a) Reminds me of that song: "I'm in heaven, this is heaven..." Yumm... (b) Growing strawberries a couple feet off the ground keeps them safe from slugs & snails (which will love to munch on 'em if given the opportunity)
What a great idea ~ Google "growing strawberries in rain gutter" to see sights with directions ~ this is just a photo, but I LOVE the idea! (seeing this gave me an idea of how to use the space in my backyard for gardening that I can't put plants directly on.)

One option is to add a hanging vegetable garden where the vegetables are grown upside down. But what vegetables can…
Veggies that can be grown upside down. I have done both the bucket and used the commericial hanging bags you can buy. Don't like the bags. They didn't retain moisture well and weren't large enough for proper root systems for the tomatoes. I had way more yield just using old 5 gallon buckets that I painted and the hubby cut a hole in the bottom of for me. I planted flowers on the top, so they were pretty too on the patio. :)

Alternative Gardning: Building a Living Fence Major living fence applications in the United States have utilized Osage orange trees (Maclura pomifera), also called hedge apple or horse apple. Easily propagated from seeds, cuttings or sprouts from the roots, Osage orange is tolerant of a wide range of soils, resistant to drought, long-lived, and affected little by insects or disease. Planted at a spacing of 1 foot, in four years it makes a fence that is “horse-high, bull-strong and hog-tight.”
