    This painting by Renoir is liked by many people. The painting brings to mind my granddaughter taking piano lessons and that is a happy thought.

I grew up in a community primarily made up of Italian, Greek, Maltese and eastern European immigrants. The woman in this painting looks like so many girls I grew up with but to see them depicted in a different era adds another level of appreciation.
