what do you imagine us to be like? pretty long haired women in tull dresses who sit by the sea shore and look sad? --- Would they ask that if they never had visitors from outside their realm? Do they have preconceived notions about what they are expected to be like by others? Would the foreigners compare them to anything? Why would they have read about this kind of humans in books if people don't usually travel between the worlds?

This is such a haunting mermaid picture. I love how it tells a million different stories at the same time.
