"I am a reader not because I don't have a life but because I choose to have many..."
'We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.' ~ Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
carl sagan - “Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people who never knew each other, citizens of distant epochs. Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic.”
I read this over summer 2011, and it served as both a guide, and an interesting narrative, about a life of someone trying to understand themselves, Zen, and the actions of others. It's funny, spiritual, and full of both contemplative thought and adventure. Definitely a must-read for anyone interested in Zen, or just being a nomad in general.
"To acquire the habit of reading is to construct for yourself a refuge from almost all the miseries of life." — W. Somerset Maugham, Books and You
