At the link, commenters say this is the Yale University Law Library. I now see that I went to the wrong university: I could have spent all four years reading on those leather couches. Also, the things on the right that look like giant television screens are apparently blocks of marble just thin enough to let light in, but not thin enough to damage the books. The real thing
Alice in Wonderland quote.... "You," he said, "are a terribly real thing in a terribly false world, and that I believe, is why you are in so much pain."
A terribly real thing indeed. Love this. Fake people are very vulnerable in one or more parts of their life, very unhappy, fragile (and not so good, as well...) people.
My freaking life. infj.inp YAY for the real people!!

Rolled books... when I see something like this (or anything made with book pages) it just makes me think STOP KILLING THE BOOKS!!! Don't dog-ear pages, don't fold them in half... respect the book! Also, the Kindle commercial with the "book lover" who says something about the satisfaction of turning down a page makes me lose my mind a little.

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes. Arthur Conan Doyle. London: George Newnes, 1892 and 1894. First editions. Illustrations by Sidney Paget. Adventures stories include A Scandal in Bohemia. Memoirs first London edition in 1894 did not include The Adventure of the Cardboard Box, perhaps as it included adultery and so was unsuitable for younger readers.

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes Arthur Conan Doyle. 1892. First edition, first issue, illustrations by Sidney Paget, some spotting, original pictorial light blue cloth, g.e., slightly rubbed and soiled, but overall very good, cloth chemise and morocco-backed cloth slip-case, [Green & Gibson A10a], 8vo. First issue with blank street sign to vignette on upper cover and “Miss Violent” uncorrected on p.317. _______________________________________________ “To Sherlock Holmes she is always the woman. I have seldom heard him mention her under any other name. In his eyes she eclipses and predominates the whole of her sex. It was not that he felt any emotion akin to love for Irene Adler. All emotions, and that one particularly, were abhorrent to his cold, precise but admirably balanced mind. He was, I take it, the most perfect reasoning and observing machine that the world has seen, but as a lover he would have placed himself in a false position. He never spoke of the softer passions, save with a gibe and a sneer. They were admirable things for the observer—excellent for drawing the veil from men’s motives and actions. But for the trained reasoner to admit such intrusions into his own delicate and finely adjusted temperament was to introduce a distracting factor which might throw a doubt upon all his mental results. Grit in a sensitive instrument, or a crack in one of his own high-power lenses, would not be more disturbing than a strong emotion in a nature such as his. And yet there was but one woman to him, and that woman was the late Irene Adler, of dubious and questionable memory.” -Opening paragraph from A Scandal in Bohemia

Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle DL was a Scottish physician and writer, most noted for his stories about the detective Sherlock Holmes. -- "My mind rebels at stagnation. Give me problems, give me work, give me the most abstruse cryptogram, or the most intricate analysis, and I am in my own proper atmosphere. But I abhor the dull routine of existence. I crave for mental exaltation."—Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (May 22, 1859—July 7, 1930)
