Don't be fooled by the title, this is not a guide to being a reliable wife. It is a tale that continually has you surprised and waiting for the next twist in the plot. Great read! The Lovely Bones is a 2002 novel by Alice Sebold. It is the story of a teenage girl who, after being raped and murdered, watches from her personal Heaven as her family and friends struggle to move on with their lives while she comes to terms with her own death. The novel received much critical praise and became an instant bestseller.
The Paris Wife by Paul McLain. Enchanting story of Hemingway's first marriage to Hadley Richardson and the allure of Paris in the twenties. Great insight into Hemingway's early years as a writer.
The Paris Wife... This was one of my book club's selections that turned out to be a delightful surprise-- I loved it! In fact, I was so taken with Ernest Hemmingway's first wife, Hadley's, account of the couple's "Paris years" that I finally read his "A Moveable Feast," which is his account of the same time. Sounds dull, but it fascinated me for some reason. Recommended!
Ranging from American museums to the coast of Normandy, from the late nineteenth century to the late twentieth, from young love to last love, The Swan Thieves is a story of obsession, the losses of history, and the power of art to preserve human hope.
