Pixar's "Day and Night" short film. I used this today for a first grade science lesson on day sky vs. night sky and it was a PERFECT set. It highlights some of the good things about each to get the wheels turning in their head, and the kids really enjoyed it! I followed it up by a Venn diagram of day and night that we completed as a class.

Most bright stars in our Milky Way Galaxy reside in a disk. Since our Sun also resides in this disk, these stars appear to us as a diffuse band that circles the sky.

Most bright stars in our Milky Way Galaxy reside in a disk. Since our Sun also resides in this disk, these stars appear to us as a diffuse band that circles the sky.

Jupiter’s south pole, as seen by the Juno spacecraft from an altitude of 32,000 miles (52,000 kilometers). The oval features are cyclones, up to 600 miles (1,000 kilometers) in diameter. Multiple images taken with the JunoCam instrument on three separate orbits were combined to show all areas in daylight, enhanced colour, and stereographic projection.
