Gwenllian Princess of Wales~ Gwenllian was only a few months old when her father, Llywelyn the Last, was killed near Irfon Bridge on 11 December 1282. Her mother, Llywelyn's cousin, Eleanor de Montfort, died while giving birth to her in the palace of Pen-y-Bryn, in Abergwyngregyn near Bangor, Gwynedd on 12 June 1282.
Skeletons found in situ in a Roman house in Kourion, Cyprus, by David and Noelle Soren in the mid-1980s include a family killed in the earthquake that struck in 365 A.D. The mother cradles an infant in her arms as the the father tries to protect them both from the falling debris.
The West Kennet Long Barrow is a Neolithic tomb dating back to 3650 BC and is thus the oldest building in England. The inside tunnels were used as pagan burial chambers and are built from Saracen rock as seen on the exterior.
