I do buy a lot of organic food, but not everything because of the prices. I try to follow the rule of thumb with produce—if i am going to eat the skin (or if there is no skin), i want organic (i.e. apples, broccoli, berries, and cucumbers I try to go for organic). Foods that I peel (bananas, oranges, carrots, avocados and onions) I don’t care as much. I try to always buy organic poultry, meat, and eggs. I also try to consult the dirty dozen and clean fifteen list, too.

Hopefully this will help keep fruit and veggies from going bad too early. Smart things here. I have practiced many of these most of my life. I will add Tomatoes. I do not refrigerate them ever. I have a hanging basket in the kitchen for my tomatoes and if I cut it I eat the entire tomato then and there. They act of chilling a whole or cut tomato sucks the flavor away immediately.
