Lois MAILOU JONES   1905-1998) was an artist during the Harlem Renaissance and was from Boston.    her childhood summers were spent in Martha's Vineyard where she began to paint, mainly watercolors.    she was recruited to join the art department at Howard University in D.C. and was professor of watercolor and design until she retired in 1977.    after marrying Haitian artist Louis Vergniaud Pierre-Noel in 1953, she moved to Haiti.
