Better-Than-Takeout Fried Rice 4 c rice, prepared 1/2# chicken breasts, cooked 1 c peas & carrots, frozen 1 white onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic 2 eggs 3 T sesame oil 1/4 c soy sauce Prepare rice according to package instructions to yield 4 c cooked rice. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet on medium heat. Add onion, garlic, peas, and carrots. Stir fry until tender. Crack eggs into pan and scramble, mixing throughout vegetables. Add rice, chicken, and soy sauce to pan.

Better-Than-Takeout Chicken Fried Rice I do it the way Rob does. I use low-sodium soy sauce, add bamboo shoots and keep it meet less, sometimes adding shrimp. Some grocery stores that have Asian food bars have plain steamed white rice you can buy the day before. Yum!
Better than Takeout Chicken Fried Rice - used Teriyaki chicken recipe from same site for chicken. Use 2T sesame oil to fry onion, garlic & veggies. Add scrambled egg. Add day old white rice & shredded/chopped chicken. Stir to combine. I add about 1/4 c. of the sauce from the chicken instead of soy sauce. Jon loves it & the girls will both eat it too - success (and easy too!)

I am an authority, however, on what is super incredibly yummy. This rice gets my stamp of approval, with honors. It’s better than takeout, and you can enjoy skipping all the mysterious, unhealthy parts of fast food. ---use gf soy sauce and egg whites only
Better-Than-Takeout Chicken Fried Rice: I don't know what sort of magic sauce they use at hibachi places, but I've yet to find a fried rice recipe that tastes as good as or better than what I've gotten at restaurants. I would recommend using butter or olive oil rather than Sesame Oil, and only half the called for amount of soy sauce. Replace the other half with teriyaki sauce. Cook your chicken with teriyaki as well, and this dish is amazing! I use bell pepper instead of peas and carrots.
