Tarbela Dam - The dam forms the Tarbela Reservoir, with a surface area of approximately 250-square-kilometre (97 sq mi). The dam was completed in 1974 and was designed to store water from the Indus River for irrigation, flood control, and the generation of hydroelectric power.
Pakistan is one of those God blessed countries where one can travel from sea level through deserts, lush green plains and finally to snow clad mountains like K-2 and many other spectacular glimpses of nature's best. In between the towering mountains are some of the most spectacular lakes, with ice cold water and beautiful reflections of snow covered mountains. Pakistan is home to several natural and man made lakes and reservoirs.
