Deep South Dish: Easy Dark Oven Roux A dark roux is essential to a good southern gumbo, but it's time consuming, you can get burned easily, or worse, burn the roux and have to start over. This easy oven method really simplifies roux making & you can make it ahead & store! this is exciting for me!
Pizza dough mix! Put it all in a quart sized bag then on pizza night just add hot water! 3 c flour 2 Tbsp sugar 1 tsp salt 1 packet of yeast (~2 Tbsp) Add 1 c very warm water and a splash of olive oil. Let rise at least a half hour. Longer is better, I think. Punch down and rest 10 minutes. Shape pizza and add toppings. Bake until cheese is melted, about 15 min. Makes 2-14 inch round pizzas.
