While there're still vibrant pueblo communities today, Anasazi, an ancient pueblo society, flourished between 900 & 1200 AD. Cliff Palace was constructed in this golden age of Anasazi; dendrochronology dates most of the buildings at the site to  1200 AD. Occupation @ the sites were short-lived and it was abandoned by 1300 AD. & remained undiscovered in the desert 'til…

4. Cliff Palace (USA):  The native American Indian city was built on a cliff side, but was abandoned during a long drought in the late 13th century. It lay unknown until 18th December 1988, when Richard Wetherill, a local farmer, spotted it while looking for stray cattle.
