Vintage school desk (there was a hole at the top, center of the desk to hold a bottle of ink.) There were indentations on both sides of the ink well to hold pencils. The writing surface was hinged at the top, and our school supplies were stored inside. There was a lever on the underside of the wood part that sat on the metal tray inside and that made the writing surface level.

"Thanks to a new law privatizing public education in Louisiana, Bible-based curriculum can now indoctrinate young, pliant minds with the good news of the Lord—all on the state taxpayers' dime." Identified are at least 19 participating schools that teach or champion creationist nonscience and will rake in nearly $4 million in public funding from the initial round of voucher designations. #FAIL! http://www.motherjones.com/blue-marble/2012/07/photos-evangelical-curricula-louisiana-tax-dollars#

Pledge of Allegiance every morning in school....what ever happened to this tradition?? i dont even see a flag in my classrooms anymore!
We said the Pledge of Allegiance every single day, first thing. Every classroom had a flag in it. Makes me sick a lot of schoolchildren don't even know the words any more, much less what they mean.
Pledge of Allegiance every morning in school. They NEED to bring back into the classrooms !!!!!!!!! Said a prayer too!

I absolutely loved ♥ & I soooo miss the good old days... every morning we all stood and said our morning prayers and recited the Pledge of Allegiance it just always started our day out on the right track ...it was a time when things were done the right way !
Pledge Of Allegiance, United State, Schools, School Days, Morning
I pledge allegiance to the flag.... Every morning this was our ritual before starting the school day. Very comforting, and it's ridiculous that it isn't even allowed in public schools any more! Which is exactly why our kids were in private schools.
I absolutely loved <3 & I soooo miss the good old days...when i attended school, every morning we all stood and said our morning prayers and recited the Pledge of Allegiance it just always started our day out on the right track ...it was a time when things were done the right way !
Everyday at school while we stood at attention with our eyes focused upon the flag as we solemnly recited The Pledge of Allegiance: "I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.......... I'm proud to say my kids' school still does this! We used to say this every morning before school started.
Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. this is always the way my school day started. always.
I pledge allegiance to the flag... We started every school day with the Pledge and the National Anthem
"I pledge allegiance to the flag..." Every morning at the start of the school day. And why we let this get away from us is mind boggling.
I pledge allegiance to the flag. . . It's too damn bad that this is going by the wayside because of "political correctness." I looked forward to doing this each morning when I was in school.
