Before you stand three artistic behemoths: the white limestone cube of the Leopold Museum, the Kunsthalle Wien, occupying the old winter riding hall, and the black basalt MUMOK. If you’ve only got the energy for one, make it the Leopold, with its stellar array of Austrian greats and swish, glass-walled café.
This one reminds me of my visit to Paris where it rained for 4 days at a stretch. Sitting at outdoor cafes on champs elysees, now covered with umbrellas. Women dressed in their 4 inch heels irrespective of the rain and men in their stylish suits, rushing around like the rain was nothing but a spray of cold breeze.
