The Hobbit Book.  Read many years ago, long before the movies came along.  Loved it then and love it now.  The movie did a good job of tell the story.  I remember an animated version show over Thanksgiving weekend, must have been in the late 70's/  Still favorite.

The Hobbit- Tolkien. The Ballantine covers of the Hobbit and of the three Lord of the Rings books with Tolkien's own artwork, as they looked when I read them in my youth, remain my favorites.
