Audrey Hepburn died from Carcinoid Cancer in her appendix. Like other celebrity Carcinoid victims, the media gives the wrong cancer type for whatever reason. Maybe because they want to report something they feel others can more commonly relate to or understand? Maybe because they just have the wrong information?
Yet another Hall of Famer with a conspicuous Capote connection, Audrey Hepburn, star of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, eventually left the glamour behind for her role as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador. But along the way, she was nominated for five best-actress Oscars, among them for her performance in The Nun’s Story, shot in 1959, the year she is pictured here. She was named to the Best-Dressed Hall of Fame two years later.
Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer married on September 25, 1954 after starring together on Broadway in Ondine. She wore a typically full-skirted 50's ballerina-length style by Pierre Balmain with roses in her hair. Their marriage lasted 14 years, until December 1968, and Audrey went on to wed Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti in 1969.
