X-acto knife if you are getting really detailed Woodgrain Contact paper with adhesive backing (aka shelf paper) Print out an image you fancy or sketch your own on a piece of paper. Cut out the image and use it to trace directly onto the contact paper. Cut the contact paper image. Peel and apply directly to candle. Light the candle and enjoy the ambiance.
