Borobudur, Java Borobudur, Java Built in the ninth century, Borobudur is a Buddhist monument that was inhabited up until the fourteenth century, when it lay dormant until it was rediscovered in the early nineteenth century. Beautifully decorated with over 500 Buddha statues and in excess of 2,600 relief panels, the Borobudur is still used by Buddhists for worshipping, as well as being a prominent attraction for people from all across the globe.
