      Duffy says to model reading strategies and be explicit in your modeling of thinking. I love this classroom chart based off of an Interactive Read Aloud. It shows the connections you can make off your visualizations of a text. Then the students could try this method out individually.

    Guided reading strategy called "Say Something" allows teachers to see how students are thinking about their texts. Additionally, it provides students w/a tool to help them express their ideas about reading in meaningful ways.

    Fantastic book to teach students about lying, adjectives, and adverbs.


    After learning about characters and settings, students were sent off to read. Then when they came back together, they shared the settings and characters from their reading.

    Great ancor chart for reading responses for reading logs.

    Reading Graffiti Board...I love this! Put up black paper, provide silver sharpies and let students write ONE quote from a book. They'll be reading more critically to find that one perfect quote!

    Interactive reading board! Each student will fill their cup with books they read in and out of school throughout the year! I used paint sample slips from a local hardware store! Thank you! Students can check out their peer cups for ideas and we will total books read by class! Fill your cup with knowledge!
