"This site includes interactive notebooks for Language Arts and I really like the "word wall" in the notebook Adventures of a Grade Teacher: Interactive Student Notebook." I love interactive notebooks!
As an instructional coach, I have been looking for ways to integrate interactive notebooks with the Common Core ELA Standards.
A great summer writing entry from one of my 8th graders. My students are required to add 10 notebook entries over the summer break. Mr. Stick often makes an appearance: http://corbettharrison.com/Mr_Stick.html
Another teacher wrote: Always Write: An Original Writer's Notebook Lesson from Corbett. One of the most amazing writing sites I've ever seen and explored! If I ever teach middle school or high school English again - this site will be a best friend!
Sentence Surgery…laminated unedited sentence strips, bandaid strips for ending punctuation, small round bandages for commas and quotations, tongue depressors to mark capitalization, and ‘Emergency Kit’ paper bags w/ red cross on them. how fun!
Six Word Memoir - Have students write one at the beginning of the school year at the middle school level instead of the same old "get to know you" activities. Could also be a great kick-off to Poetry Workshop.
