Abstract Portraits: how to create a striking photo montage using clipped shapes

Turn your real life into virtual reality with these 360-degree cameras

Shoot me, Print me, Tuck me, Fold me and then Shoot me Again. Aldo Tolino’s human portraits are of a creative loop which goes along the lines of: shooting a portrait, printing it on paper, then creasing it, tucking it and folding it until a brand new facial expression is created before shooting the printed-portrait-turned-sculpture for the final result. During this process, the more you rearrange the shape of the triangle grid on the surface the more facial expressions you generate.

Martin O'Neil | Cut Up...

Martin O'Neil Cut Up portraits; could communicate fade/loss; transformation of who you are into who you could be; have the pieces re-gather in an upside down version, maybe a photo of the person younger then who they are now

Distorted Origami Faces by Aldo Tolino

"Faust als Marionettentheater" by Aldo Tolino Folded C-prints, 2013

This piece is very interesting. I like the way his face has been distorted into two different positions. It suggests a transitory moment of his two faces. One is a very serious face: time for game time, the other face is looking down. He is either smiling from happiness or grinning from failure. Margot Kessler
