What a cute idea for a summer BBQ. Store bought pie crust, vanilla bean ice cream, topped with a warm homemade blueberry sauce. Recipe here via Real SImple. Homemade Blueberry Sauce 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup sugar 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 2 tablespoons cornstarch, mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract Zest of 1 lemon (about 1 tablespoon)
Blueberry Tart: The crisp, buttery shortbread base gets a surprise crunch from ground almonds. The tangy buttermilk custard that fills the shell is perfect complement to the abundance of sweet, plump blueberries scattered over the top. The tart is best served soon after it's assembled, but it's so delicious that it's unlikely that there will be a crumb left over.
What's better than fresh blueberries. I have memories of picking them in Oregon. Wish I could today! :)
I love the work of Sara Ghedina. Here Italian sensibilities scream from her work. •WHY I LOVE THIS: It's a basic pie shot, but sooo much more. The lighting is beautiful, sure. I love the layering of the fabric under the pie. NOTE: IF IN DOUBT, LAYER. The pie is perfectly browned and there's no need to cut into it with the blueberry juice oozing from the top. Beautiful picture!
