Israel Regardie (born 1907 in London) was one of the most influential Adepts of the Golden Dawn. He was also a dedicated writer. It was his main ambition to preserve and perpetuate the teachings/work of the Golden Dawn and Aleister Crowley. On October 28th, 1930, Regardie took the Oath of the Probationer in Crowley’s Order of the A.·.A.·., Crowley’s reformulated and advanced version of the system of the Golden Dawn (Crowley maintained the name 'Golden Dawn' for the Outer Order).
