Wicked: The Life & Times of the Wicked Witch of the West / Gregory Maguire. I loved the musical before I even thought to read the book but once I did I fell in love.
Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire - AKA the beginning of my obsession
Wicked : The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (Wicked Years, #1) I liked the musical better...
Wicked: The Life & Times of the Wicked Witch of the West / Gregory Maguire. Loved the book before the musical
Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire | I absolutely loved this book. (the rest of the series I just liked). Note: this book is considerably darker and more grown-up than The Wizard of Oz, and even the musical Wicked. Also, the plot's different from the musical in some key spots.
Wicked : The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (The Wicked Years #1) by Gregory Maguire When Dorothy triumphed over the Wicked Witch of the West in L. Frank Baum's classic tale, we heard only her side of the story. But what about her arch-nemesis, the mysterious Witch? Where did she come from? How did she become so wicked? And what is the true nature of evil?
“People who claim that they're evil are usually no worse than the rest of us... It's people who claim that they're good, or any way better than the rest of us, that you have to be wary of.” ― Gregory Maguire, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West
Wicked by Gregory Maguire (all of his books are worth reading, but this one is still my favorite)
Favorite book and favorite musical!

READING LIST: The Paris Wife by Paula McLain 0 A deeply evocative story of ambition and betrayal, The Paris Wife captures a remarkable period of time and a love affair between two unforgettable people: Ernest Hemingway and his wife Hadley. (Bilbary Town Library: Good for Readers, Good for Libraries)
The Paris Wife by Paula McLain. Library book club selection for January, 2013. Only read a few chapters then skipped to the last and read it so I'd have some idea what it was about for the meeting. Good writing, but not that interested in memoirs, even in novel form. Finished 1-16-13.
Just finished "The Paris Wife" by Paula McLain. The story of Hadley and Ernest Hemingway in Paris in the 20's. Deep and true, honest and rich, heartbreaking. Watch as Ernest begins his slow downward spiral into creative madness and Hadley's patience and strength when she perserveres. #thesinglemombomb loves this book.
The Paris Wife: A Novel by Paula McLain: Ernest Hemingway's life as told from the perspective of his wife Hadley. It's fiction but the author did such an incredible job in research, it reads exactly as I imagined it in my mind - but more illuminating.
The Paris Wife By Paula McLain 336 pages Set among the glamorous literati in bohemian 1920s Paris, this novel celebrates the life of Hadley Richardson, the first Mrs. Ernest Hemingway.
Paula McLain's novel, The Paris Wife, tells the story of Ernest Hemingway's first wife, Hadley Richardson.

Garden Spells (Bantam Discovery) by Sarah Addison Allen In a garden surrounded by a tall fence, tucked away behind a small, quiet house in an even smaller town, is an apple tree that is rumored to bear a very special sort of fruit. In this luminous debut novel, Sarah Addison Allen tells the story of that enchanted tree, and the extraordinary people who tend it.…
Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen - her books always have a little magic in them. This time it's an apple tree and flowers from the garden cooked in foods. Cute story.
Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen is such a lovely book - Set in a tiny N.C. town, you will be captivated by two sisters whose garden produces magical results - an apple tree that lets you see your future, honeysuckle wine that lets you see in the dark, and haircuts that change your life. I love the way this author thinks. Charming book. - Houston Foodlovers
For Book Club - Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen. “Garden Spells is truly spellbinding, beautifully crafted and as bewitching as the title suggests. This is Southern charm at its most beguiling, with characters you’ll take to your heart, a delicious love story, and a magical garden you’ll wish was in your own backyard. I devoured it in one sitting and was left eagerly awaiting Sarah Addison Allen’s next novel.”—Eileen Goudge
Any books by Sarah Addison Allen are worth reading, but her first one is probably my favorite.
Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen (290) The Waverleys have always been a curious family, endowed with peculiar gifts that make them outsiders even in their hometown of Bascom, North Carolina. Even their garden has a reputation, famous for its feisty apple tree that bears prophetic fruit, and its edible flowers, imbued with special powers. Generations of Waverleys tended this garden. Their history was in the soil. But so were their futures.
Garden Spells, by Sarah Addison Allen (Book Club Kits). The women of the Waverley family -- whether they like it or not -- are heirs to an unusual legacy, one that grows in a fenced plot behind their Queen Anne home on Pendland Street in Bascom, North Carolina. There, an apple tree bearing fruit of magical properties looms over a garden filled with herbs and edible flowers that possess the power to affect in curious ways anyone who eats them. www.goodreads.com
Garden Spells, by Sarah Addison Allen - One of my most favorite books ever!
GardenSpells by Sarah Addison Allen . . . Magic Realism Southern Style.

I'm pinning this despite the horrendous punctuation mistakes and sentence fragments; also that "and" starts a sentence. Goodness--any book lover should be able to see these mistakes from 20 million miles away! Otherwise, this is totally how I feel! "Sometimes I forget myself in a book and when I have to stop reading, it takes me a minute to remember where I am or who I am."
So true!< just finished Fangirl and this happened to me I really wished there was was more books instead of it being a stand alone! But it AWESOME even though it was different then what I normally read but I'm so glad I read it!
This is an absolute truth -- and also explains why someone who interrupts my reading time often gets a very dirty look. ;-)

After, finally, watching the Jane Austen Book Club movie, I decided I wanted to spend the holidays re-reading her books. I am starting with my favorite, Pride and Prejudice! Do not disturb until 2015 ~
One of my favorite books by Jane Austen. Via @esusansmith. #JaneAusten #books -Deana loved JA www.adealwithGodbook.com
Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books. If you are as much of a hopeless romantic as I am, you will love curling up with this book and reading it over and over again. The movies don't do it justice, so don't discredit it on account of them. You will fall in love with the prideful Mr. Darcy as you live the dramatic life of Elizabeth Bennet.
Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen // One of my all time favorites. "But your good opinion is rarely bestowed and is, therefore, more worth the earning." <3

Unless you're reading books by George R. R. Martin, in which case you live a thousand lives that ALL END HORRIBLY IN A SEA OF BLOOD AND SORROW, LEAVING YOU IN A PIT OF DESPAIR AND WONDERING WHY, WHY, GOD, WHY DID YOU NOT JUST STICK TO ONE PEACEFUL LIFE LIKE THE MAN WHO NEVER READS? << For the first time in my life, repinning for that comment. So true!

Just finished reading this book, The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. It was a unique point of view from Mary Boleyn, rather than the typical Anne Boleyn's POV. I'm really into Tudor historical fiction books right now, and this one was really good!
The Other Boleyn Girl. An entertaining book, although historically not very accurate. Philippa Gregory paints a very unflattering portrait of Anne Boleyn. I liked this book much better than the movie.
The Other Boleyn Girl Loved this book. First one we read for our book club. Movie didn't come close to the book.

I can't say enough about "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett! It's such an entertaining read! Read the book before you see the movie.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett. Even if you've seen the movie... read the book. It is wonderful and more alive than watching real people play it out on the screen.

The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway
Worth Reading, Ernest Hemingway, Books Worth, Favorite Books, Sun, Lost Generation
The quintessential novel of the Lost Generation, The Sun Also Rises is one of Ernest Hemingway's masterpieces and a classic example of his spare but powerful writing style. Description from ebay.com. I searched for this on bing.com/images
Nobel Prize-winning classic author's first The Sun Also Rises - Ernest Hemingway - "...novel follows the dual story of a wounded war correspondent's hopeless pursuit of an unattainable lady and a band of expatriates' 1920s journey from Paris's Left Bank to the bull fights of Spain."
The Sun Also Rises, by Ernest Hemingway | Another English syllabus special, Hemingway’s tight prose and peerless storytelling are somehow more resonant when you are reading it on your own. Or as my colleague Matt put it: “I couldn’t keep my eyes open for more than five pages of Hemingway growing up, but for some reason I picked this up in my post-graduation haze and was mesmerized.”
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway - Great example of the "iceberg" method. In true Hemingway fashion, less is more. Great story following the Modernist trends of the Lost Generation. I would highly recommend.
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway was a terrible boring novel to read and on my own I did not understand the themes but when the class discussed the book it was cool to see how you they all came to the conclusions about the thematic ideas!
The Sun Also Rises is a 1926 novel written by American author Ernest Hemingway about a group of American who travel from Paris to the Festival of San Fermín in Pamplona to watch the running of the bulls and the bullfights.
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway - The quintessential novel of the Lost Generation. A poignant look at the disillusionment and angst of the post-World War I generation. The story follows the flamboyant Brett and the hapless Jake as they journey from the wild nightlife of 1920s Paris to the brutal bull-fighting rings of Spain with a motley group of expatriates. It is an age of moral bankruptcy, spiritual dissolution, unrealized love, and vanishing illusions.
Earnest Hemingway’s quintessential story of the post-World War I Lost Generation remains relevant eighty-five years after its 1926 publication and provides a poignant look at the disillusionment and angst in an age of moral bankruptcy, spiritual dissolution, unrealized love, and vanishing illusions. The quintessential novel of the Lost Generation, The Sun Also Rises is one of Ernest Hemingway’s masterpieces and a classic example of his spare but powerful writing style
