    Hoover Dam. When I was 10, this is where I wanted to have my birthday party. Crazy I know but I remember going on the tour down where the turbines are. It is off limits now, you can't tour that area. My how times have changed!

1996 - Hoover Dam.I was fortunate to be able to take the dam hard hat tour deep inside of the dam. If you like big machines, you would love the generator room - no, I did not see a Decipticon down there. I think they closed the dam tour after 9/11.

So happy we took the time to visit the Hoover Dam while in Las Vegas! A must see and easy to get to!

Hoover Dam is a somewhat unusual example of Art Deco design. Many dam guides state that the design was to be Gothic Revival, including the installation of gargoyles with water shooting out of their mouths.
