House Sparrow in Clouds; gouache on toned paper mounted on birch panel, wax medium. I am experimenting with ways to seal my gouache pieces without having to frame them under glass. I applied an enaustic wax medium to this finished piece. The one on the right is without the medium. The one on the left is the finished work with the wax top coat. I wasn't sure what the result would be, but it made my piece go from a twilight scene to a late evening...almost night scene. I like both actually.
Work in progress. Rendered the sky and clouds in color over the orange/earth under-painting I did a few days ago. I will address the birds next and then finish the piece. This is oil on canvas. Montana Black
I love painting these fat little birds. Lol! This piece is my first try at working on paper mounted on birch board. My goal is to make these gouache pieces so I don't need to frame under glass. When this is done, I will seal with an encaustic wax medium. Montana Black
