Minimalist- Orchid Series. Jo Baer, born Josephine Kleinberg 1929, is an American painter, whose works are associated with minimalist art. In 1960 she rejected Abstract Expressionism for spare, hard-edge non-objective painting. Baer was accepted as a peer in the Minimalist movement by such artists as Sol LeWitt, Donald Judd, and Dan Flavin. In 1964 Flavin organized “Eleven Artists,” an exhibition that was an important step in defining the key figures of Minimalism. He included Baer.
