I have this movie poster on my wall above my desk. The film itself really snuck up on me. (Fair warning: people seem to either love it or hate it.) I have seen it many times and it always blows me away at how quiet yet powerful it is. Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson (with Sofia Coppola directing) made a masterpiece here. One of those movies that wrecks me for days after I see it and yet I have no choice to rewatch this melancholy wonder.

Movie #22 was Ex Machina. This film may rank in my top 10 favorites now. Writer and Director Alex Garland (also writer and director of Sunshine) has once again created a beautiful and intense science fiction masterpiece. The characters are simple, yet layered with complexity that continues to build. Awesome story and gorgeous filmography. I also loved the references to search engines leading to artificial intelligence. Overall, it’s amazing! Easily the best film of 2015 thus far.
