Jeremy made awesome biscuits & gravy breakfast sandwiches this morning. They had a spicy, creamy, peppery gravy; fried soysauge w fennel seeds; and a sweet, tangy tomatillo sauce.
I've been working on my baking skills and pie crusts have been my bane for as long as I can remember. I finally found a recipe and technique that deliver crisp, flaky crust!
Midnight pie experiment (I've been prone to late-night baking this year for some reason-- I find it helps w stress): strawberry-raisin-champagne with cardamom, cinnamon, and a bit of apple too. We don't have a pie pan so I used a casserole dish, lol.
Just made enchiladas for the first time and they turned out great!! I was inspired by Kim & Roma's cooking yesterday for the youth crew at GRuB. I made a smoky & spicy chipotle-garlic-tomato sauce, flour tortillas which were way easier than I expected, roasted cauliflower and summer squash, black beans with caramelized onions, guacamole, sauteed rainbow chard with lemon, and made rice with butter (earth balance) and bouillon. Apricot-pear tart: last night I made apricot preserves and poured under and over sliced plums. Plums were tossed w sugar, butter, cinnamon, pinch of flour, bit of lemon juice. Baked for 45 mins at Easy and deliciously tart.
