SHAKTHI PEETAS Shakti (Sanskrit pronunciation: [ˈʃʌktɪ]) (Devanagari: शक्ति; from Sanskrit shak, "to be able"), meaning "Power" or "empowerment," is the primordial cosmic energy and represents the dynamic forces that are thought to move through the entire universe in Hinduism. Shakti is the concept, or personification, of divine feminine creative power, sometimes referred to as 'The Great Divine Mother' in Hinduism.

One particularly curious theme is the penance of Parvati which appears many times through out the monument. While story of Paravati's penance for Shiva is among the well know stories of Hindu mythology, particular focus on that myth for iconographic representation is rather unusual. According to Kirit Mankodi the choice is rather intentional and represents grieving state of Queen Udaymati for her late husband.
