And it can be extremely frightening, especially when being yourself can put you in danger. I've struggled with this my entire life. Only letting the world see but a fraction of who I was for fear of being ostracized or in some cases verbally or physically attacked. However I kept flexing my courage muscle because the more I kept myself hidden the more I suffered. The pain of hiding who I was, was worse than the fear of what I'd face by coming out.
