What do you want kids to do with technology?
Classroom, Idea, School, Teaching, Kids, Learning, Educational Technology, Teacher
This list justifies the good that technology does in the classroom. It shows that students aren't just using a computer for no reason, but each app that a teacher incorporates has a purpose that will make the student better. It would be a good idea to come up with this list at the beginning of the school year, and at the end, after students have used technology all year.
Technology is a Tool, not a learning outcome. Try telling my teachers this. I honestly don't think that it's fair for us to get assigned homework online over the weekend or break and especially one that's due at midnight. It's not fair for kids who don't have the option.
What Should Teachers Do With Technology? Like this poster. Technology should be a tool to aid in learning. My school uses IXL to help math. I like to teach a math concept and then have the students practice that skill on IXL.
Digital Citizenship is a constant hot topic in education. I have researched it, blogged about it, and even wrote a paper on it for a past course. I think it is something I am constantly learning about and trying to teach students. I have compiled quite a few resources that may be useful for classroom teachers as they try to tackle the teaching of it in their classrooms.
This pretty much highlights everything I learned in graduate school at UT! This is going up in my classroom! It's all about transforming - not replacement or amplification! Twitter / BGruetzmacher: @Bill Hughes Hughes Hughes Hughes
As adults who grew up without technology we need to shift our thinking about technology in our classrooms -- Technology is a tool -- NOT a learning outcome.
9 Wrong And 8 Right Ways Students Should Use Technology - I love the idea that technology is a tool, not a learning outcome.
Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: 8 Things Kids should Be Able to Do with Technology
Technology is a Tool, not a learning outcome. It is important that educators know how to use technology effectively in the classroom, especially in technological literacy. Some teachers just make students use technology to complete work but yet it is not enhancing their learning. Use technology to let students learning become more advanced and allow them to think more critically about different concepts through research. It is important in using technology that educators teach the safe ways of doing so. It is also important educators try to avoid sending students hope to complete technological tasks because of some families that do not have the technology like a computer or tablet to complete tasks.

Inference-This is an awesome Pixar short for reinforcing or introducing the skill of inference. Allow students to watch the entire film; 5 minutes, then replay it, stopping to ask inference questions. - I honestly think all Pixar short films are really great for inference! The Actual '73 Giving Tree Movie Spoken By Shel Silverstein: This is one of the most beautiful books in my opinion. In all of its simplicity meant to be read to children, it is more than enough to make you cry. This is so relevant. This is so universal.--This has been my favorite book since I can remember!
The actual 1973 Giving Tree Movie, spoken by Shel Silverstein. I have never been so happy! - My favorite book to read to Stella, now I can show this to her!!!
