Brittany originated in the French province as a bird dog. They are members of the sporting group and were AKC recognized in 1934. They average size at 30 to 40 pounds and 17½ to 20½ inches at the shoulder. Their coat can be orange and white or liver and white in either clear or roan patterns. The Brittany has an average lifespan of 12 to 13 years. Major health concerns includes canine hip dysplasia, and less sever health issues such as hypothyroidism and epilepsy.
